The Department of Basic Sciences, Manipur Technical University (MTU), in association with the Department of Physics and Department of Electronics, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), organized an academic programme comprising expert talks and academic interactions on 18 September 2026. The programme was aimed at promoting interdisciplinary learning, academic exchange and research interaction among faculty members, research scholars and students of both universities.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Ms. Huidrom Malemnganbi, HOD, Department of Basic Sciences, Manipur Technical University. The programme was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Shri Ramananda Nongmeikapam, and Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Kshetrimayum Imokanta Singh. The Vice Chancellor felicitated the invited speakers and addressed the gathering. The programme was conducted by Dr. Angom Devadatta Mani, Coordinator, Student Affairs & Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Sciences, Manipur Technical University, who served as the Master of Ceremony. A total of 172 participants attended the programme, comprising 102 participants from Manipur Technical University and 70 participants from Dhanamanjuri University.
Expert Sessions
- The first expert talk was delivered by Dr. Ajay Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati.
Topic: “Developing New Generation Photovoltaics: Combined Computational and Experimental Approach.”
The session focused on emerging photovoltaic technologies and the importance of integrating computational approaches with experimental research for the development of advanced photovoltaic materials and devices. The session was chaired by Dr. Aheibam Keshwarjit Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, DMU.

Conclusion
The programme provided a valuable platform for academic interaction between Manipur Technical University and Dhanamanjuri University. The expert sessions on next-generation photovoltaic technologies and Artificial Intelligence in science offered participants insights into emerging areas of science and technology and encouraged interdisciplinary learning and research collaboration.Overall, the programme was successfully conducted with active participation from both universities and was academically enriching for the students, research scholars and faculty members.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rajkumar Kamaljit Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Sciences, Manipur Technical University.
