About
A one-day workshop on Role of Numbers in Real-Life Problems was organised by the Departments of Mathematics, Manipur Technical University, Takyelpat Imphal 795004. The workshop was organised in a view to refresh the students and teachers regarding applications of numbers in real-life problems. The numbers play an important role in the 21st century. This workshop helps the students get the essence of numbers in day-today life. It also acts as a platform for the students to interact with subject experts.

Overall feedback of the participants reflected that the workshop achieved its objectives and met the expectations.
Outcome of the Workshop
The workshop was mainly focused on the lectures by Dr. Shanta Laishram, Professor of Mathematics & Associate Dean, Indian Statistical Institute (ISID), New Delhi, 110016, India. There were two sessions in the workshop. In the first session, the expert delivered a lecture carrier opportunities (on what one can do if one is really interested in mathematics), even after B.Tech. In the second session, he gave a bridge course to connect between numbers and real-life problems, highlighting the role of prime numbers in the field of cryptography, data science, finance, etc. The students actively interacted with the expert.
This workshop has convinced the participants that there is a need to acknowledge the role of numbers, especially prime numbers, and to participate contributing in the field of mathematics.
