One Day Students’ Industrial Visit Programme

1. Highlight of the Industrial Visit:
Date: 22/11/2022
Time: 10: 00 am onwards
Venue: AIR Imphal and AIR Mayang Imphal
Co-Ordinator: Rosy Kimneithem Haokip, Assistant Professor, ECE Dept., Manipur Technical University, Takyelpat, Imphal.
Participants: B.Tech 5th Semester and 7th Semester Students, Dept. of ECE, MTU.
2. About the Industrial Visit:
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Manipur Technical University organized a One Day Students Industrial Visit at AIR Imphal and AIR Mayang Imphal on the 22nd of November, 2022. A total of 38 students from the 5th and 7th Semester participated in this Industrial visit, accompanied by 5 faculty members and 4 technical staffs of the department. Mrs. Rosy Kimneithem Haokip, Assistant Professor, ECE Dept. is the CoOrdinator of this Industrial Visit. We reached AIR Mayang Imphal at 11:30 am where we were given a demonstration about the territorial transmission, production and broadcasting of the radio programs. They also showed us how to transmit the FM programs and send to the transmitter. The students also visited various Antennas used for FM transmission and AM transmission, Transmission equipment, Transmission links from Studio to Transmission station and its technical details. At 2:00 pm we reached AIR Imphal where respected Sir N. Nandakumar, Director (Engineering), AIR Imphal warmly welcomed us and engaged with the students in a knowledgeable and informative interactive session. The students also visited the entire studio like control room, music studio, playback studio, talks studio, Transmitter Section, recording room etc.

The students also learned about the structure of the studio and management of radio station such as;
Production studio: how to record and edit the voice.
Electronic or technical section: all mechanical issues handled by the department, security of equipment and instrumental maintenance.
Recording studio: Console, recorded program, agriculture, health economics and research related, all national and international subjects covered by All India Radio.
Station library/Archive: Library section of radio station, CDs and DVDs of music, dramas, movies and various historical music documentaries.
3. Students’ Feedback:
Out of 42 students, 39 students (93 %) actively participated in the Industrial Visit showing enthusiasm and interest in learning about the All India Radio as a whole.
4. Future Action:
The department is planning to organise a One Day Industrial Visit for the students of 3rd and 5th Semester at Airport Authority of India Imphal within this Semester.
