The presentation proved to be a highly informative experience, highlighting the significant role that NEDFi plays in advancing the economic development of Manipur. It emphasized the organization’s contributions towards enhancing accessibility and funding essential infrastructural projects, as well as fostering entrepreneurial opportunities within the state.
Attending the briefings at NEDFi significantly deepened the students’ understanding of the financial sector and clearly demonstrated how these institutions can empower them to explore business and entrepreneurial opportunities. In a state like Manipur, where building a self-sustaining economy through startups and businesses is essential. Such knowledge is invaluable.
The Phoenix Residency. Nongthymmai, Nogkhriem, Shillong, Meghalaya (23rd April 2025)
A presentation titled “Prospects of Travel and Tourism in Shillong ” was delivered by Milan Baghdas. GM Phoenix Residency.
An in-depth exploration of the hotel’s infrastructure, showcasing its various facilities and design elements were shown to the students. Attendees were guided through key areas, including the lobby, room decor and room segments, kitchen, and various other functional areas of hotel management. The tour highlighted the functionality of the front desk and concierge services, emphasizing how they enhance visitor convenience.
Dawki, Mawlynnong and Double Decker Living Root Bridge (24th and 25th April)
As Meghalaya’s natural landscape closely resembles that of Manipur, the recent industrial visit to Dawki, Mawlynnong and Double Decker Living Root Bridge, aimed at studying their management practices and tourism models.
The objective was to identify strategies that can be replicated in Manipur local context to enhance tourism development and improve visitor experiences.
Major learnings were:
- Sustainable tourism, emphasizing environmental conservation and community engagement,
- Strict guidelines to protect local wildlife habitats while providing educational tours.
- Providing diverse activities and experiences.
- Consideration of collaborative marketing approaches that can widen the reach and impact local tourism promotions by building partnerships with local businesses.
- Revenue generation models strategies which was visible at entrance fee to access tourism spots, restroom facilities along popular hiking routes, establishing small kiosks or stores that sell essential supplies, cane for hiking, snacks, water, offering guided hiking tours led by knowledgeable locals through ticket sales, setting up official campsites, homestays and charging for overnight stays. Such revenue generation model has the capacity to effectively sustain operational support while also improving the overall experience for visitors..
