EVENT REPORT: Earth Day 2026 Celebration, Manipur Technical University (MTU), Imphal

  1. Executive Summary

On April 22, 2026, Manipur Technical University successfully hosted a day-long celebration for Earth Day under the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” Due to the prevailing local situation during that time, a pledge sent from the Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India, was taken online in which students and faculty members of the university took part. A quiz event was also held on 4 May 2026 as it was postponed from the earlier planned schedule. Students from various departments of the university participated in this event.

  •  Online Pledge on 22 April 2026

            Due to the prevalent local situation at that time, the following pledge as sent from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India (Appendix-A) was taken online through Google Meet. It was attended by various students of the university. A quiz event was also planned but postponed.

  •      Quiz event

            A quiz event on the theme of climate change aligned with this year’s Earth Day theme “Our Power, Our Planet” was held in room 410, New Academic Block of Manipur Technical University, on 4 May 2026 at 2.30 PM. Five teams of students from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Management participated in the said event. Department of Management and Electronics and Communication Engineering equally shared the first prize, Department of Electrical Engineering won the second and the third prize went to the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

      5. Conclusion

The event successfully integrated MTU’s technical prowess with the urgent need for environmental stewardship. In future, such an event is very much needed to instil a sense of conserving environment, energy and Earth, as a whole in the minds of students and the university’s role in leading Manipur toward a sustainable future.
