Objectives

To honour the supreme sacrifices of Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, and other patriots of Manipur who laid down their lives in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, and to inspire present and future generations to uphold the ideals of freedom, unity, and resilience in safeguarding the dignity and sovereignty of the state.

Plan of action

The Patriots’ Day Observation was scheduled to be held on 13th August 2025 at Manipur Technical University from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM with the objective of honoring the sacrifices of Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, and other patriots of Manipur in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. The program was to be conducted by MC Fujica and planned to begin with a welcome speech by Dr. L. Iboyaima Singh, followed by an address from Registrar Ramananda Nongmeikapam. The keynote lecture was to be delivered by the resource person, Dr. Malem Ningthouja, highlighting the historical significance of the day. Cultural contributions were to include two patriotic songs—an opening and a closing performance—by students of the Cultural Club and music faculty G.C. Sapna. The event was planned to conclude with a vote of thanks by Ksh. Imokanta Singh, CFO of MTU. The expected outcome was to inspire students, faculty, and staff with values of courage, unity, and patriotism.
