Event Description

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a one-day field visit to All India Radio (AIR), Imphal. A total of 28 students from the 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters participated in the event. The visit commenced with an introductory session involving the students, the Director, and Engineers from AIR Imphal. Subsequently, the students were divided into three groups to explore the facilities, including the state-of-the-art equipment utilized by the radio station. The program concluded with a presentation by Mr. Nongmaithem Nandakumar, Director (Engineering) for AIR Imphal, followed by an interactive session with the students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Dr. Loukrakpam Merin Singh, Head of Department, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipur Technical University.

Objectives

To equip Electronics and Communication Engineering students with practical industrial insights into radio communication, particularly regarding the transmission and reception of radio signals.

Plan of action

1.      Facilitate a field visit to All India Radio (AIR) to provide students with practical exposure to radio communication.

2.      Arrange an interactive session with AIR engineers to foster in-depth understanding of the state-of-the-art equipment used at the radio station

Action Report

The visit provided students with the opportunity to explore the various facilities available at All India Radio (AIR), Imphal. Engineers from AIR Imphal thoroughly explained the functions of the equipment. Through direct interaction with these engineers, students gained a comprehensive understanding of how a radio station is operated.

Outcomes / Impact of the activity

1.      Students received valuable exposure to the intricate process of radio broadcasting.

 

2.      The interaction and insights gained during the visit significantly motivated students to pursue careers as engineers within All India Radio (AIR), Imphal.

Feedback

Students expressed high satisfaction with the field visit and provided positive feedback. They strongly recommended that the department organize similar industrial visits in the near future to further enhance their practical knowledge.
