Objectives |
The aim of the training was to help rehabilitation professionals understand the disability assessment process as per the Gazette – 2024 and create awareness about its procedures. It also sought to encourage them to think independently and develop problem-solving skills for the betterment of patients. Ultimately, the program supports Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in availing their rightful benefits in multiple ways. |

Plan of action |
The three-day training program, with six sessions per day, focused on screening and assessment of various disabilities as per the Gazette 2024.
Expert resource persons from CRCSRE-Imphal and associated institutions facilitated the sessions, ensuring rehabilitation professionals gained practical understanding of the Gazette 2024 assessment process. An online assessment was conducted to evaluate the learning outcomes, and feedback was collected from participants regarding the effectiveness and usefulness of the training.

Action Report |
A three-day Offline Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) Program was conducted for rehabilitation professionals to strengthen their understanding of disability assessment as per the Gazette 2024. The inaugural session was graced by Shri. Dr. Lourembam Iboyaima Singh, HoD, Dept. of Humanities & Social Science, MTU, as Chief Guest, along with Smt. G. Chanu Sapna, Smt. MC Fujica, Shri. N. Khoibi Singh (Director, CRCSRE-Imphal), and Shri. Prasadi Kumar Mahto (CRE Program Co-ordinator) as Guests of Honor. Shri. N. Khoibi Singh welcomed participants and briefed the program schedule. Across three days with six sessions daily, topics included screening and assessment of Locomotor Disabilities, Blindness, Low Vision, Thalassemia, Hemophilia, Sickle Cell, Speech & Hearing Impairment, Developmental Disorders, Neurological Conditions, Mental Illness, SLD, ASD, ID, and Multiple Disabilities/Deafblindness. Expert faculty from CRCSRE-Imphal and partner institutions led the sessions. An online assessment and participant feedback were collected, confirming the program’s effectiveness in building capacity of professionals to support Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in accessing benefits under the Gazette 2024.

Outcomes / Impact of the activity |
The CRE Program enhanced awareness and understanding of various types of disabilities and the assessment process as per Gazette – 2024. It provided participants with opportunities for professional learning and collaboration with other rehabilitation and medical professionals, fostering better coordination for the benefit of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The three-day program also encouraged knowledge sharing and promoted the effective utilization of available supports to empower Divyangjan in all aspects of life. Additionally, it helped the faculty and staffs of Manipur Technical University (MTU) become more aware of disability-related assessments and issues. |

Feedback |
Out of 113 participants, offline feedback was collected from 110 participants. The feedback form included 20 questions and one suggestion question. A five-point scale was provided. On average, most of the participants expressed satisfaction with the training, its organisation and management, as well as the speakers. However, participants suggested improvements in toilets, water facilities, and seating arrangements. |
