A brief note on the subject matter or topic The event was organized by the Department of MAHUD with the objective of educating students, faculty, and local municipal staff about the importance, calculation, and administration of property tax. The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of property tax, its role in municipal finance, and its impact on the development of urban infrastructure.
11. Aim and Objective

i.               To provide participants with a thorough understanding of the concept, purpose, and types of property tax.

ii.              To explain the legal and administrative framework governing property tax in India, with a focus on local regulations in Manipur.

iii.            To highlight the challenges faced in property tax assessment and collection, and discuss potential solutions.

iv.            To demonstrate the impact of property tax revenue on the development and maintenance of urban infrastructure.

v.              To foster an interactive learning environment where participants could engage with experts and discuss practical issues related to property tax.

12. Coordinator’s Statement While classroom learning is essential, it is not e As the coordinator of the workshop, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, speakers, and the organizing team for their invaluable contributions. The success of this workshop is a testament to the collaborative effort of everyone involved. The feedback from the participants has been overwhelmingly positive, which reflects our collective dedication to delivering a comprehensive and impactful learning experience. I believe that the knowledge and insights gained from this workshop will significantly benefit all attendees in their respective fields. Moving forward, I am committed to organizing more such informative sessions to continually enhance our understanding and application of important topics like property tax.
13. Future Action/ Follow – up Action Plan

i.               Conduct Advanced Workshops: Organize advanced workshops focusing on specific aspects of property tax, such as valuation methods, dispute resolution, and technological integration in tax administration.

ii.              Develop Training Modules: Create comprehensive training modules and online courses on property tax to provide continuous learning opportunities for students, municipal staff, and other stakeholders.

iii.            Collaborate with Experts: Establish partnerships with tax experts, urban planners, and legal advisors to conduct regular seminars and provide expert guidance on complex property tax issues.

iv.            Implement Practical Exercises: Incorporate practical exercises and case studies in future workshops to give participants hands-on experience in property tax calculation and administration.

v.              Awareness Campaigns: Launch awareness campaigns to educate property owners about their tax obligations, benefits, and the impact of timely tax payments on community development.

vi.            Survey of Properties: Conduct a comprehensive survey of properties within the municipality to ensure accurate property tax assessments. This will involve mapping properties, recording their dimensions, and categorizing them based on usage.

vii.           Database Management: Develop a robust database management system to store and manage property tax data efficiently. This system will facilitate easy access, retrieval, and updating of property records, ensuring transparency and accuracy in property tax administration.

viii.         Mobile App Development: Develop a mobile application to streamline the property tax payment process. The app will provide features such as property tax calculation, payment reminders, and online payment options. It will also allow property owners to view their tax history and raise queries or disputes.

14. Event Outcomes with concluding remarks The event was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the detailed and informative sessions. The workshop succeeded in raising awareness about the significance of property tax and provided valuable insights into its administration and impact on urban development.
