8th International day of Yoga

8th International day of Yoga

               The 8th International day of Yoga was held on 21st June 2022 at Auditorium of Govt. Polytechnic. The event was attended by the Hon’ble VC of MTU, staff of MTU and students of MTU with the guidance of a well experience Yoga Instructor Ms. Sharungbam Rashree Chanu various yoga asanas and pranayamas were performed and the benefits of each of them were explained. The instructor also explained the why asanas as well as the pranayamas to be must be given equal importance. The event concluded with a speech form Hon’ble VC of MTU explaining the importance of yoga in our modern lifestyle.

               After the yoga session, at painting competition on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” was held at the same venue. The competition registered a total of 21 participants. The competition witnessed the fine arts skills of the students of MTU. The winners of the painting competition are:

2nd Wilson Thangjam, 2nd sem EE (2101EE0227)

3rd Swatisri Thingbaijam, 4th sem CSE (2001CS0212)

Opening of IPR Cell-MTU & workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) with the support of Patent Information Centre (PIC) of Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC)

On the 26th of May 2022, under the leadership of the Vice-chancellor, Manipur Technical University, the Minister of Science and Technology, Shri Th. Biswajit Singh officially announced the opening of the Intellectual Property Right (IPR)- Cell of Manipur Technical University and One day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights. The events were organised in presence of Shri Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, Minister Education and LA, Dr Bhabeswar Tongbram, Vice-Chancellor of MTU, Shri Devesh Deval, IAS Member Secretary, MASTEC Commissioner (S&T), Govt. of Manipur, Mangsatabam Harekrishna, IAS Commissioner (Education), Govt. of Manipur, Dr Yashawant Dev Panwar, Head of Patent Facilitation Centre, Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department Of Science & Technology, Government of India, Dr B P Singh, Former Chairman In-Charge and Technical Member-Patents (IPAB ), Dr L. Minaketan Singh, Director and official staff of MASTEC along with faculties, staff and students of B.Tech (five branches) and MBA programme, MTU. Over 250 students and 16 startup beneficiaries of the MTU Incubation Cell sponsored by the State Planning Department participated in the function.

The IPR cell MTU is opened with the initiative of the Patent Information Centre (PIC), MANIPUR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL (MASTEC), Science & Technology Complex, Takyelpat, Imphal under the supervision of the Patent Facilitation Centre (PFC), Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.

The One-day workshop on IPR was also held and chaired by Dr Bhabeswar Tongbram, Vice-Chancellor, MTU.  Dr Yashawant Dev Panwar, Head, Patent Facilitation Centre-TIFAC, Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India elaborately spoke on the Topic “Harnessing Intellectual Property in Technical Institutions” and Dr B P Singh, Former Chairman In-Charge and Technical Member Patents (IPAB), gave a talk on the Topic “Patenting System in India and Abroad” and interacted with the participants for over 2 hours.

Toycathon 2021-22

Introduction

Team Thoibi received the Award for Appreciation from the Galgotias University along with prize money during the Grand Finale of Toycathon 2021-2022 (Physical Edition) at Galgotias University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The event was held from 24th-26th May 2022. Team Thoibi comprises of five members which includes one (1) faculty and four (4) students. The team developed a handmade and eco-friendly toy named “Eta Laiphadibi” which recites the content from its user’s set module that helps to deliver a simpler way to make pre-school learners to learn some basics before going to the school. Eta Laiphadibi provides wide range of module selection including: Numerical Numbers, Alphabets, Manipuri Numerical Numbers and Manipuri Rhymes.

The idea of Eta Laiphadibi also strongly incorporates schemes like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat Mission, Environmental Conservation Schemes, Digital India, Climate Change Schemes and Make in India.

Under the ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, Toycathon-2021 is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology and ethos. Toycathon is an inter-ministerial initiative organized by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

About the Event

During the event of Grand Finale, a total of 227 teams were selected for the out of which 28 teams from from Track 2 (student participants from University and Colleges) and Track 3 (established firm, corporation, faculties and industry experts) fell under the Nodal Centre at Galgotias University. Team Thoibi was the only Team from the North Eastern States at its Nodal Centre. The Event was 36 long hours of continuous Hackathon and consists of two rounds of continuous evaluation in every 12 (twelve) hours.  22 (Twenty-two) teams from the Track 2 and 6 (Six) teams from Track 3 were selected for the Power Judging Round which consists of 25 (Twenty-five) Panelist for peaching the ideas.

Introduction

The document on hand is a narration of the detail the events and proceedings of the hands on training workshop on PCB DESIGN AND PROTOTYPING that was conducted by Department of Electrical Engineering, MTU  for the students and staff of MTU. The training was conducted at the MTU premises and the whole session lasted for three days. 

The training was organized as per the TEQIP-3 equity action plan.

About the Workshop

Printed Circuit Board are essential part of a electronic connections to generate a mechanical support as well. Conductive tracks, pads and other features etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate to connect capacitors, resistors or active devices which are generally soldered on the Printed Circuit Board. In an era where technology evolves fast, you need to keep up with the new printed circuit board trends.  We can’t rely upon bread board for substantially increased number of components and for smaller packaging sizes of Integrated circuits that’s makes PCB more essential. It is more of an art then just science with lots of scope for designer. During this three-day workshop, you will learn how to meet your performance requirements using CAD systems and EAGLE software to layout your boards better. Moreover, hands on training on the PCB prototyping will be provided on the PCB prototyping machine.

Opening 

The training workshop was opened at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome statement by the Co Ordinator Asst. Prof. Oinam Mnganleiba Meetei, stated about the importance of Workshop. followed by the statement of HoD Asst. Prof. Haobam Jaillendro Khuman. Finally, he wished all participants a good and successful training workshop.

Training goal

The main objective behind the training workshop on PCB DESIGN AND PROTOTYPING is to get the participants to learn

  • To be able to design PCB in software
  • to have practical knowledge of fabrication of PCB
  • to have a capable to make Design and Prototyping by self
Workshop Sessions:

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17th : At 10:00 am Asst. Prof.  Oinam Manganleiba Meetei introduced the participants of the workshop into the topic of PCB Design and Prototyping .Some highlights of his presentation were:   – the definition of Printed Circuit Board.
